Names of God - Elohay
In contrast to Eli, Elohay (My God) is a confident and intimate prayer salutation, through which the warm personal communion with God is trustingly expressed.
In the New Testament, it is also a creed of faith.
The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God [Elohey], and I will exalt him.
But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God [Elohayik Elohay]."
But Micaiah said, "As the Lord lives, what my God [Elohay] says, that I will speak."
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord my God [Elohay], I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.
"Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me! O Lord, be my helper!" You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God [YHVH Elohay] , I will give thanks to you forever!"
But for you, O Lord, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God [Elohay], who will answer.
I prayed to the Lord my God [Elohay] and made confession, saying, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments..."
And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God [Elohay] will come, and all the holy ones with him.
Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, "He is our God [Eloheynu].""
For when he (Jesus) received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, ..."
And my God [Elohay] will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
