The wonderful name El Shaddai differs from all other names of God in one essential characteristic.
Shaddai is derived from the word "Schad", which describes a "mother’s breast" in 18 different places in Scripture. Applied to God, it has the meaning of: "He is the one who cuddles", which justifies a reference to the motherly love of God.
In Shaddai, El - the strong, mighty, powerful and supreme God - demonstrates the overflowing, devoted love of a mother that is willing to sacrifice everything for the welfare of her own child.
It speaks again and again of the covenant of HIS promises, His faithfulness to HIS people and HIS children through grace and mercy.
God, the origin of all being, is the only true Giver of Life, the Almighty, God of all Goodness, all Sufficient One, the ever present, loving, devoted Giver of blessings!

The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad. Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb! Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!
"Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her; that you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious abundance." For thus says the Lord: "Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall nurse, you shall be carried upon her hip, and bounced upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you..."
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord." And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, ..."

All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."
And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son."
And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
